Organization of the Barnstormers

The president of the Barnstormers runs the business meeting.

The secretary records minutes. 

The treasurer collects yearly dues and the free will offering. 

The newsletter editor disseminates information to the members. 

The care person communicates good wishes to members who are sick and provides updates on their condition to the group.

Director: Bill Davis

A native of Naugatuck, Connecticut, Mr. Davis was Choral Director and Music Coordinator at Naugatuck High School from 1973 – 2001. He had an outstanding choral program of five choral ensembles involving over 240 students.   Mr. Davis has earned degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University, New York University, and the University of Bridgeport, with additional study at the Hartt School of Music and the University of Connecticut.

Mr. Davis has served as a frequent adjudicator and has been a guest conductor at festivals in Portland, Durham, and Ellington, Connecticut, and at the C.M.E.A. Southern Region Music Festival.  Mr. Davis has been a guest choral conductor at Laurel Music Camp for nine different seasons.  He conducted the Heritage Singers in Southbury, Connecticut for fourteen years.  Under the direction of Mr. Davis, the Naugatuck High School Chamber Singers performed extensively throughout New England, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and Quebec and Nova Scotia, Canada.  In addition, six European concert tours were made to Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Ireland/England.

Since retiring in 2001, Mr. Davis has directed the Naugatuck Community Chorus (2001-2005), and currently leads a church choir in Keene, NH, is the director of the 75 voice male chorus, The Barnstormers, and sings in the Keene (NH) Chorale.  He also has a furniture restoration/chair caning business, enjoys his 230 year old family farm and especially enjoys time with his 4 grandchildren.

Accompanist: Jean Degan

Jean Degan has been the choir director for vocal and hand bells, organist and pianist at St. Joseph Church in Bristol, CT since 1986.  She has also been accompanist for recitals, auditions and other concerts.  Jean is a piano and pipe organ instructor.  She has been Music Director and pit musician for many musical productions, including Bristol Eastern High School and Central Connecticut State University.  Jean has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, with piano, from UCONN.  She also has a Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance and Master of Music degree from Hartt College of Music in CT.
